The GU16 team just fall short of making it to P3. However, it was a great run for the team to put them in P4 for their league season. They won their first LPT game on Sunday in PK's vs FC Alliance - White with a great performance from their defense and goalkeeper. Their second game though was a loss of 2-0 to Spiros. The game was closer than the score reflects. Both teams working very hard. Coach Chad Melton and the team are excited for what will be a very competitive league.

Evergreen 90/White finalist at Bigfoot
Monday, 18 August 2008
Playing with a roster depleted by injuries and summer-vacation commitments, Evergreen 90/White nonetheless scrapped its way to a second-place finish in the GU18/19 division of the Snohomish Bigfoot Tournament. In pool play, Evergreen battled to a 0-0 draw with Crossfire/Jimmerson, beat HPFC 3-1 and lost 1-0 to FC Alliance Gold. That was good enough for a berth in the semifinals. Evergreen once again relied on its stout back four and first-class goalkeeping to forge a 0-0 draw with Synergy FC in regulation time, then outscored Synergy 4-2 in a penalty-spot shootout to earn a berth in the final. In the final against Mount Rainer FC Storm, Evergreen conceded a goal in the 12th minute, but battled back valliantly the rest of the match, nearly equalizing on three ocassions in the second half, before falling 1-0.

Evergreen 94 – Sakuda Boys Win U-14 Elite Championship at Nike Crossfire Challenge Cup
Friday, 25 July 2008

The journey was fantastic. After being down 1-0 early to FC Alliance and fighting back, the Sakuda 94’s could not be denied. They defeated FC Alliance in a championship rematch 4-3 to win the Nike Crossfire Challenge Cup. In the opening game of the tourney FC Alliance handed out a 5-1 loss. After that Sakuda 94 never looked back. Defeating Tynecastle FC 9-0 and a tye with Richmond BC 2-2 gave them the # 2 seed and a spot in the semi-finals. It was a long way from the opening loss. “It really showed the boys character and heart”, said Coach Kevin Sakuda. The semi-final matched them up with Lake Oswego FC and a hard fought 2-1 victory and a rematch with FC Alliance. A 4-3 victory with hard tackles and some beautiful soccer. The Championship game was a tough and gritty battle that showed character. The final game will be talked about for a while. One of the greatest youth soccer games I have ever seen. The Sakuda 94 Team became Champions and have a lot to be proud of. Great job boys and Thank you Kevin & Andy.
